Appearance and personality[edit]
Gael'gar is a man that has short silver hair with brown eyes which are normally closed and a pair of small feathery wings on the top of his head. Gael'gar wears purple armour and purple head wing decorations.
Gael'gar is a zealot and a racist; he has a strong hatred of pure-blooded High Entia and believes that half-Homs High Entia is the future of his kind, he even looks down on the Machina for causing the war with the Mechon despite Egil being the main aggressor. He is even willing to harm a child due to this ideology as seen when he attempted to kill Teelan. He sees Melia as an ideal ruler and wishes for her to be the perfect ruler of his race. After his defeat, Gael'gar went mad and now desires to kill Melia and take her place.
Story arc[edit]
Main story[edit]
After Melia and Shulk crash-land on the Bionis' Shoulder, they head to the Companions' Cape, where they meet Gael'gar, who seems to have a fondness for Melia. He babbles about how half-blooded High Entia, such as himself and Melia, are better than the pure-blooded High Entia, whom Gael'gar dislikes. Shulk asks Gael'gar how to get to Alcamoth, and Gael'gar proceeds to explain how they can get there and also says that a bunch of non-soldier refugees are currently living in Gran Dell because they've been exiled since the soldiers, along with Gael'gar himself, believe that the Machina are responsible for the loss of their brethren and their home.
Later, the party heads to Teelan's laboratory to get his research notes, but when they arrive, they see Tyrea and Teelan being attacked by Gael'gar, and he says that he intends to destroy their lab since he doesn't support their research, as it may lead to the restoration of the pure-blooded High Entia. This understandably angers Melia, so she draws her weapon, and Gael'gar becomes upset that Melia doesn't agree with him, so they fight. Gael'gar loses the fight, but Melia chooses to spare him. However, suddenly, the laboratory explodes into flames, since Gael'gar has rigged it with explosives. Gael'gar then attempts to take Teelan hostage but is attacked by a Telethia, whom Teelan presumes to be his mother. This causes Gael'gar to run away in fear.
The Fallen[edit]
During the quest, The Fallen, Melia talks with a kid in Gran Dell named Selene who says that a note addressed to Melia was given to her. Selene gives Melia the note, and she sees that it's from Gael'gar and that it says that he's waiting for her at the Companions' Cape. The party heads to the cape and meets with Gael'gar, who says that he knew they would come. Melia asks him what his intentions are, and he responds by saying that Melia is not fit to be the ruler of the High Entia and that despite being a half-blood, she is a traitor for supporting the pure-bloods. He then proclaims himself as worthy of being the High Entia's ruler and says that he intends to kill Melia and overthrow her. The party then fights Gael'gar and defeats him. While Gael'gar is upset about being defeated, Melia berates him for his beliefs and actions. Melia chooses to spare him yet again and tells him to find a new path in life. As the party begins to leave, Gael'gar starts villainously laughing and walks to the edge of a cliff, and commits suicide.
Lore[edit]
- According to Gael'gar, he formerly served as a guard for Alcamoth, though Melia doesn't seem to believe him when he says this.

From the start[edit]
(sfx: "Hehehe" / "Oh?")
As I cannot accompany her, I trust you will see to it that no harm comes to Lady Melia.
I pray you will not forget that.
Surely this reunion is but a part of fate's grand design!
You must be tired, Lady Melia. Please, feel free to rest your wings before setting forth.
After accessing the Grand Arch[edit]
The purebloods were supposed to be no more... We cannot usher in a new age so long as the Fog King still stands.
It is an affront to those mingled blood! Their actions are anything but rational...
Was it as bad as they say?
I fear it is so charged, it may no longer be the place we once knew as home...
How mortifying! To think that I could be so self-absorbed as to blind myself to your radiant presence...
You have my deepest apologies, truly.
As an enemy[edit]
Trivia[edit]
- Gael'gar can be considered a foil to Tyrea. Both are half-Homs High Entia, but whereas Tyrea initially despises half-Homs High Entia, Gael'gar has a hatred towards pure-blooded High Entia.
- It is for this reason that Gael'gar attacks Tyrea and Teelan at Teelan's Laboratory; he mistakes them for purebloods.
- Gael'gar's hairstyle is similar to Xenosaga antagonist, Albedo Piazzolla.
- Coincidentally, both have been driven mad due to obsessiveness towards another person and rejection, in Gael'gar's case, his obsessiveness towards Melia to being the perfect ruler of his race before she rejects him, while Albedo is driven mad due to the fear of being alone, his direct contact with U-DO, and his immortality.
- Gael'gar reuses Dunban's animations for when he wielded the Monado.
