Appearances Xenoblade Chronicles

Gadolt (ガド, Gud) is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles. He is a soldier from Colony 6 who went missing after the Mechon attack. He is Sharla's fiancée.

Appearance and personality[edit]

Gadolt is an athletic Homs with short blond hair and brown eyes. He wears standard Homs soldier attire of a green shirt, brown gloves, bulky grey pants, and green boots.

Gadolt is a fierce fighter. He takes every loss personally and has an unending thirst to improve so no mistakes are repeated. Relatedly, he has strong tunnel vision, and little sense of self-preservation if he thinks he can win.

Story arc[edit]

About a month before attacking Colony 9, the Mechon attack Colony 6. Otharon gives Sharla and Juju the order to evacuate civilians. Gadolt, Sharla's fiancé, is okay with this, as he says he can focus better on the fight if she is safe. The Mechon win, and Gadolt is not seen again.

After Shulk and Reyn meet Sharla and say they're looking for revenge for the attack on Colony 9, Juju decides that this must mean Colony 6 is less-defended, and runs away to go there. The trio chase him and eventually come upon Otharon in the Ether Mine, who is using Gadolt's rifle to fend off Mechon. After the fight, Otharon explains that he and Gadolt tried to save many captured Homs but failed, and now Gadolt is missing - though he is certain that he is not dead. Once the group clears out the mine, Otharon gives Sharla Gadolt's Rifle, and she makes it her goal to find him.

Gadolt disappears from mention for a while, but he remains on Sharla's mind at all times. This is made especially clear during a confrontation with Metal Face at Sword Valley, who sets several Mass-Produced Faces on them as jeers that "that special someone" could be inside any one of them. But the truth is made clear not long after, after the explosion at Galahad Fortress. Egil has decided that his Face units must be cleared of their memories in order to function properly, and his first subject is one with very strong memories of Sharla.

As the party ascends Mechonis and reaches a point outside its thigh, they take a break. Sharla, cleaning Gadolt's rifle, thinks back to a time when he blamed himself for the loss of a fight and declared he'd do anything, including sacrifice himself, to win. She asks Reyn if he would do that, and Reyn says no way, he plans on winning and living. Meanwhile, they are being watched by Jade Face.

Jade Face reveals himself when the party reaches the area between Mechonis Field and Central Factory. Sharla recognizes his voice immediately, and after fighting their way down a long corridor, they reach him. Gadolt shows himself, equally mutilated as the other Face pilots, but clearly without his memories and completely subserviant to Egil. He makes a final shot and leaves. He is not seen again until the end of Agniratha, and this time while fighting them, the party realizes he is missing Sharla on purpose - his memories are not completely gone, and perhaps can be restored. Meyneth asks that the group buy time for her to launch a massive attack, which they do, and Gadolt is successfully freed from Egil's control. He is weak but alive, and Reyn tosses him some water while they continue on to Egil.

Egil proves to be too much, and the party are forced to escape Agniratha before it is destroyed. Sharla is aghast to find that Gadolt is missing, so much so that Reyn has to slap her to force her to keep escaping. With a wave of destruction about to overtake them, Jade Face appears to block the way and give them enough time, with Gadolt making one last encouragement before he is vapourized.
