Follow Ball
The Follow Ball is a piece of Nopon technology Tatsu lends to friends in Xenoblade Chronicles X. In the player's case, they receive it after they rescue Tatsu from the Seaswept Base in Chapter 3.
Once acquired, the player can hold R and then press X to emit a ball that races in the direction of a mission objective, as long as one is set as a navigation target. Tatsu says it should be used whenever the player is lost.
Although Tatsu says the Follow Ball can get damaged, there is no actual risk. The player can use it as much as they want.
In the Definitive Edition, the Follow Ball can be toggled on and off. While on, the Follow Ball will leave a trail as it moves, making it a bigger help. Additionally, if the player moves away from the path, a new Follow Ball path will eventually be generated.
