Flesh Eater

From Xeno Series Wiki
Jump to navigation Jump to search

Flesh Eaters are a type of Blade in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country. They are the result of taking a Blade and infusing it with human cells with the intent of creating a stronger being. The practice originated in Judicium.

Appearance[edit]

Being Blades originally, Flesh Eaters and Blades share many visual characteristics.

Flesh Eaters are identified by red "stains" on their Core Crystal. The appearance of these stains varies with each Flesh Eater, with some having only slight red spots, and others with a fully red core. Becoming a Flesh Eater may also provide the Blade with an alternate appearance, to which they can change back and forth at will. This alternate appearance may be more powerful than the default appearance. Alternatively, the alternate appearance may be used to disguise one's nature as a Flesh Eater. This can also be done by covering the core crystal. A final feature unique to Flesh Eaters is ageing; unlike normal Blades, some Flesh Eaters will visibly age, albeit slower than a human. This doesn't apply to all flesh eaters, as Jin did not visibly age in the 500 years he was a Flesh Eater.

Characteristics[edit]

The purpose of creating a Flesh Eater is to unlock unique and intense powers beyond those of a regular Blade. However, most cases do not succeed in this, leaving the Blade with no benefits and only disadvantages. For example, Minoth loses his immortality upon becoming a Flesh Eater, and begins to age (though very slowly).

As they are part human, Flesh Eaters do not require a Driver, and do not revert to their Core Crystal when their original Driver dies. They also gain the ability to become Drivers themselves (it is unclear whether they all can, or whether they also require the specific aptitude). As a Blade, they may resonate with any Driver they choose, or fight independently.
