Xenoblade Chronicles 2[edit]

"Fan la Norne" first appears at the end of chapter 4 in the Old Factory of Mor Ardain. After helping subdue and chase off Torna, she informs Rex that Amalthus wants to meet him, so she takes the party to the Indoline Sanctum. However, a flashback to Addam's party of 500 years ago shows that her name should be Haze. Mythra attempts to get an answer from her about this, but only learns that her Core Crystal is unusual somehow. Fan does later admit to Rex that she's worried about her missing memories.

Later, she accompanies the party to Temperantia and uses her her Blade powers to weaken the Judicium Titan weapon, allowing the party to board and fight Aeshma's Core in order to stop Jin. She attempts to do the same against Jin himself, but he is able to power through and successfully fatally stabs her.

Fan is given a funeral, where Mythra voices that half of her Core Crystal is missing, since she remembers how the shape was when she traveled with her with Addam, suggesting that someone must've taken half of it. Later, in the World Tree, Amalthus reveals that he was the one who took the missing half to add power to himself, since with her nullification power combined with his power as the Master Driver, he can control many Blades and Titans from vast distances.

Torna ~ The Golden Country[edit]

500 years before the main game, Haze, as Lora's Blade alongside Jin, is trying to uncover the location of Lora's mother, Rynea. While Lora and Jin travel separately from her, she investigates Rynea's location by herself. After Lora and Jin's battle with Addam and Mythra, she rejoins them accompanied by Milton, informing her Driver of her mother's location, Torigoth Village in Gormott, leading the party, now accompanied by Addam's group, to travel there. When they arrive at Torigoth Village, they find that the village has been desolated and everyone was killed, including Rynea. Later, still in Torigoth, they are attacked by Ardainian troops led by Brighid, mistaken for badnits. Haze uses her Blade powers to restrain both Mythra and Brighid when the latter goes too far. When Hugo, Brighid's Driver, arrives, he stops the battle stating that "there is no need for this" since Hugo and Addam know each other. Everyone goes to the Strategy Room of the Ardainian flagship except Lora and Haze, who stay behind at the Torigoth Cemetery, decorating the graves. Suddenly, Gort and some hired mercenaries try to kill them, coming at them without any Blades due to their knowledge of Haze's Blade retriction ability, as a way to reclaim Jin's Core Crystal. Jin then rushes in to assist them and cuts off both Gort's last remaining organic arm and his prosthetic arm.

While in Aletta, the party learns from a Tornan army messenger that Malos is planning an attack on Auresco, the Kingdom of Torna's capital. En route, Minoth joins the party.

After the party is unable to stop Malos from stealing Torna's seal, the party meets with the Tornan King and Zettar, affirming that they'll stop Malos. Before setting off, they make sure they're well prepared for the upcoming battle against Malos. The party arrives at the Soaring Rostrum, where Malos was waiting. After a very tough battle, Malos is heavily damaged by Mythra and the Tornan Titan is destroyed. An Ardainian warship arrives and evacuates the group.

Some time later, in Gormott, Addam and Mythra, now converted in Pyra, ask Lora, Haze and Jin to travel to Spessia and command the remaining people of Torna who fled there to travel to Leftheria, as they intend to travel to the royal Spirit Crucible to seal the third Aegis Sword. On Spessia, while on their way to the refugee camp, Lora, Haze and Jin are ambushed by Gort, who was mutated into a prototype Blade Eater by Indol, seeking vengeance against them. The three kill him and Jin notes that defeating Malos or whoever with a bad heart will not be enough to bring peace to the world, and Haze notes that there will always be strife. Lora refutes this, telling them that things could change.

Lore[edit]

  • Right after the events of Torna ~ The Golden Country, Haze, Jin and Lora arrive at the Tornan refugee camp in Spessia, right before Amalthus, now Praetor, attacks the Titan. Lora is killed and Jin eats her heart, turning into a Flesh Eater; due to Lora passing away, Haze returns to her Core Crystal and is most likely found by the Indoline army and taken back to Amalthus.
    • He reawakens Haze at a later point in time, becoming her driver, and he giving her the new identity of Fan la Norne, Goddess of the Praetorium. Without Haze knowing it, Amalthus takes half of Haze's Core Crystal and becomes a Blade Eater.
  • According to Arendtz, Fan would sometimes sing to herself at night in the Indoline Sanctum.
