Endless now
The endless now is a concept in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It is Moebius's core philosophy and an alternate name for Aionios.
Description[edit]
The endless now is the state of the world of Aionios, wherein the flow of time is frozen in one instant. This created the world of Aionios, where the future does not exist. It is perpetuated through the eternal cycle of life and death instigated by Z and Moebius.
Story[edit]
Xenoblade Chronicles 3[edit]
The concept is first explored at the beginning of Chapter 6, while Noah is Amidst Fog, viewing the memories of his past lives. In the final flashback, a past Noah ultimately abandons Ouroboros to Moebius, becoming N. N then sees himself at a forking path with Mio at one end of it, and he follows this path to walk together with Mio on the horizon, representing the endless now.
Future Redeemed[edit]
Na'el unconsciously embraces this concept after the death of Chyra at the hands of starving Kevesi, a fact that is brought up by Matthew when he confronted her aboard The Ark. After Alpha's downfall, N warns the Founders that Moebius will defend the endless now to their deaths.
Trivia[edit]
- The endless now concept is similar to the Eternal Recurrence in the Xenosaga trilogy.
- Both involves trapping the universe in an eternal cycle instigated by the main antagonists to avoid a perceived catastrophe.
- In Xenosaga Episode III, Shion Uzuki nearly embraced a similar concept in a conversation with U-DO, wishing to be with Kevin Winnicot over and over.
