Desolation is Disc 3, Track 3 on the Xenoblade2 Original Soundtrack and Disc 8, Track 3 on the Xenoblade Chronicles Original Soundtrack Trinity Box. It is a version of Walking with You with many instruments replaced by a piano.
It plays in the following cutscenes:
Xenoblade Chronicles 2[edit]
- Rex and Mythra drive back Malos and Akhos at the Olethro Ruins.
- The party pays their respects to Vandham at his grave.
- Tatazo prevents Poppi from destroying Lila, who then undoes Bana's control over her.
- Niall dies and is revived by Nia on the Titan Battleship in Indol.
- Rex convinces Jin to stand down after fighting him in the World Tree.
- Amalthus attempts to merge with the World Tree after being beaten by the party.
- Malos gives his last words before dying.
- Herald is convinced to return to the party in her Blade Quest, The Calm and the Storm.
Torna ~ The Golden Country[edit]
- Lora and the rest of the party find the graves of the people of Torigoth.
- Mythra sees Milton's dead body on the ship evacuating people from the Kingdom of Torna.
- Gort dies at the hands of Lora, Jin and Haze in Spessia.

別れ曲のような切ない曲を書くのは作家冥利に尽きるのですが(劇伴曲を書く際最も好きと言ってもいいかもしれません)、この曲は最終的には映像と合わせて曲を書けた好きなシーンの一つです。イントロからサビまでとエンディングは僕が、後半大サビはCHiCOが作りました。僕の癖なのか、曲終りを音的に解決させないことが多いです(よく突っ込まれます)。その物語を終わらせたくないのでしょうね。
