Debuff (XC2)

Debuffs are a type of status effect in the combat of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Torna ~ The Golden Country. A character inflicted with a debuff usually has their combat abilities hindered while the debuff lasts. Some debuffs can only be inflicted by enemies on party members, whereas others can only be inflicted on enemies.
Debuffs are not to be confused with Reactions, which similarly temporarily hinder combat abilities, but which can be inflicted upon enemies and party members alike.
Overview[edit]
Debuffs each last a certain duration, which may vary based upon difficulty settings. Individual debuffs can be resisted by equipping certain accessories, such as Incense of Calm. The party may also grant themselves temporary immunity to specific debuffs using seals. The Debuff Cancel Blade Art and AC System Reset nullify any debuffs currently on the relevant Driver.
List of debuffs[edit]
Enemy debuffs[edit]
- Doom does not affect the target during its ordinary duration, but kills them when it expires.
- Nullify Heal prevents the target from increasing their HP through healing.
- Shackle Blade prevents the Blade from acting. It can be sealed via a Blade Combo ending in ice.
- Shackle Driver prevents the Driver from acting, besides movement. It can be sealed via a Blade Combo ending in earth.
- Stench prevents the Blade from approaching the Driver. It can be sealed via a Blade Combo ending in water.
- Taunt prevents the target from attacking any enemy besides the one who inflicted the debuff, or from running from combat.
Party debuffs[edit]
All such debuffs come from Rear Guard Arts in Torna ~ The Golden Country.
- Moondance reduces the target's reaction resistance rate.
- Baric Blast lowers the target's ether defense.
- Shadowflare lowers the target's physical defense.
