Not to be confused with Contact, the concept in Xenogears.

Contracts are key items in Xenoblade Chronicles 2. They are received by completing certain event, non-repeatable, Merc Missions. Each contract will unlock a specific pouch item to be sold at a lifestyle shop and represents the trading relations between two of Alrest's nations. As an example, the Adventures Contract is obtained by completing Long-Awaited Work and allows Reedirait Bookstore to sell Adventures of Myram.

Contracts are inherently linked to deeds, as obtaining as many contracts as possible will make more deeds available for purchase as new items are put up for sale at shops. Increasing the Development level of Alrest's nations is also needed as it unlocks the Merc Missions that reward contracts, with raising each nation to development level 5 being required to obtain every contracts.
