Consumable Items, called Battle Items in the Definitive Edition, are one-use items in Xenoblade Chronicles X. Many of these items can be used in battle by pressing + to open the Battle Menu, then X to view Items. The proper item can then be selected and used immediately.

In the Wii U version[edit]

In the Wii U, one consumable item can be obtained every day at midnight UTC, chosen by the player.

All consumables are received from the Network Console in the BLADE Barracks, and only if the player is online. At midnight UTC, the Divisogram is updated with the daily scores from each Division and is indicated by the "Division Spoils Await" message at the top-left. The ranking below describes which items can be received: players at that rank can receive one item from their rank or below.

  1. Salvage Ticket
  2. Mega Tensifier
  3. Frame Patch
  4. Supreme Bonus
  5. Personal Patch
  6. Fuel Re-up
  7. Tensifier
  8. Special Bonus

In the Definitive Edition[edit]

In the Definitive Edition, several consumable (battle) items can be obtained daily. They are also granted as rewards for completing and partially completing the Mira survey. Several party members also grant them when found in Volitaris. For a list of the latter sources, see each consumable's page.

Daily consumables are received from the menu via "Online" -> "Rewards" -> "Division Rewards". (Despite this path, they neither require online play nor have anything to do with Divisions.) A random selection of items is made available each day, which can be rerolled via save scumming.

The items granted, while random, are influenced by the number of playable characters which have been unlocked. This does not include Cross, but does include temporarily playable characters, even after they cannot rejoin the party. The total number of items granted is determined by this value. Each possible number of playable characters is also associated with a specific pool of Battle Items; the pool starts with only one item (a Personal Patch) when only Elma is playable, and each time another playable character is unlocked, another item is added to the pool. Daily rewards are chosen uniformly from this pool, with replacement.

Unused content[edit]

There exist a total of 31 consumables, and only 8 of them are used. Some of the unused ones include:

  • A "middle" Tensifier that adds 2000 TP.
  • Weaker versions of Personal Patch, restoring 30%, 60% and 100% of max HP to only the user.
  • Weaker versions of Frame Patch, restoring only 30% and 60% of max Skell HP.
  • Weaker versions of Fuel Re-up, restoring only 1000 and 2000 fuel.
  • Frame Patch but for Skell appendages, with 30%, 60%, and 100% versions.
  • Unnamed consumables that cleanse debuffs. There are three versions: one that only works on the user, one that works on all on-foot party members, and one that works on all Skells.
  • An unnamed consumable that is clearly only for debugging. It provides +100% healing, -100% appendage healing, -50% TP, +100% fuel, cleanses, and sells for 65535 Credits.

All these unused icons are still in the Definitive Edition.
