Confuse is a debuff in Xenoblade Chronicles and Future Connected. It causes the victim to stop fighting and wander around at random.
Confusion is a devastating debuff, on par with Topple and Daze for how well it simply removes someone from the battle for a time. But like these effects, party members can use the help function to end it early, if they can reach the person running around in panic. Against enemies, confusion is equally useful in terms of disabling foes and potentially getting them to run into hazards or off cliffs, which makes it a shame that it is almost entirely inaccessible for the party to inflict.
Confuse Resist gems can increase one's reistance to confuse when equipped.
In the Definitive Edition, confused characters move about 50% slower, so it is easier to catch them and harder for them to go into dangerous locations.
