The community menu, the first time it is opened

The community is a gameplay mechanic in Torna ~ The Golden Country. Community symbolizes the support the party is gathering as they progress through the story and complete quests.

Mechanics[edit]

The community menu is available after meeting Kaym and receiving his quest, shortly before arriving at Yanchik Harbor. It can be accessed anytime afterward from the menu by selecting the "Community" icon. The community menu consists of a blue circle with an icon of Lora and Jin at its center. Around them, inside this blue circle, icons for every supporters that the party gathered up to this point can be found, making up the community. On the upper left side of the menu, NPCs that the party met in Gormott can be found. On the right side of the menu, NPCs that the party met in Auresco can be found while the lower left side of the menu is where NPCs found in the rest of Torna can be found. NPCs must be talked to at least once to be registered on the community menu. Only named NPCs can be registered on this menu and join the community, with NPCs such as the peddlers or the 4th Decade Soldier being unable to join.

Non-supporter NPCs[edit]

When an NPC is talked to for the first time, the community menu will open and they will be registered on the part of the menu corresponding to their general location. Whether the community menu opens automatically or not after meeting an NPC for the first time can be toggled in the Option menu.

While on the menu, any non-supporter NPC icon can be selected to bring up a window showing their name, their title (such as "Emissary of justice" for Macmac) and the location or landmark they can be found at. If the NPC has a quest to give to the party, a blue "?" will appear over their icon. Meanwhile, if their quest was accepted and is in progress, a blue "!" will appear instead. NPCs that wish to join the community after being talked to will have a icon next to their name and can be tracked on the compass. The same icon will appear next to their name in the field.

Supporters[edit]

Supporters can be found inside the blue circle on the community menu. Unlike non-supporter NPCs, their icon has a golden border, a token of their support. A list of every supporter in the community can be opened, sorted by chronological order, with whoever joined the community first at the top. While inside the list of supporter, the selected NPC's icon will be brought up at the center of the blue circle, with a window showing their name, their title and a short text where the supporter express their thanks to the party, under the icon.

NPCs can become supporters by completing quests, sometimes while in the middle of a quest, or by talking to them after reaching a certain story point or after raising the community's level. In the field, any supporter in the community will have a icon next to their name. Sometimes, a supporter can leave the community, generally during a quest, and will rejoin the community after completing said quest.

Community level[edit]

To raise the community's level, a set number of supporters must join the community.

Community level MAX[edit]

Upon reaching community level MAX, a picture will be awarded showing the party with every supporters in Sachsum Gardens, which can later be seen again from the community menu. Additionally, voice lines for Addam, Hugo, Jin and Lora will play:

Effects of the community[edit]

Raising the community's level is a key element of Torna ~ The Golden Country, with two story objectives asking for the community to reach level 2, after the party meet the Tornan King for the first time, and 4, after Lora is knighted, respectively to progress. However, story progression is not the only thing effected by the community, as such:

Some quests will only appear after reaching a certain community level.
Mythra will come up with recipes for her "Creative" cuisine after reaching a set number of supporters for the community.
Some NPC dialogues will only be available after reaching a certain community level.
Some auto dialogues will change or appear depending on community level, showing the increased support and recognition the party gathers.

Trivia[edit]

It is possible to entirely skip the story requirement for community level 2, as it is possible to reach this level before meeting the Tornan King.
It is however impossible to skip the second story requirement as not enough supporters can be gained for the community to raise it to level 4 before Lora is knighted, falling short of 4 supporters.
