The Cathederal Ship is a gigantic Gnosis in the Xenosaga series. At 16,000 kilometers in diameter, it is the largest Gnosis recorded. In actuality, it is the Gnosified remains of the planet Ariadne.

Story

Episode I

The Cathedral Ship is a gigantic Gnosis that the Elsa is drawn into after it departs from the Dock Colony. The Elsa crew are split up into separate groups, with Matthews, Tony and Hammer remaining on the Elsa while Shion, KOS-MOS, MOMO, Ziggy, and chaos break off from their location to find them. Cherenkov, however, is with neither group and left to his own devices. As the party seeks out the Elsa, they see various buildings, signs, and billboards that cause them to realize that the Gnosis itself is made up of the remains of the planet Ariadne. Eventually they make their way to a room where a Zohar Emulator is being stored. Cherenkov is also found there and he transforms into a Gnosis, forcing the party to put him out of his misery. Shortly afterwards the Cathedral Ship starts to fade away. The Elsa quickly comes across the party members and picks them up. The Durandal also arrives and the two ships battle the remaining Gnosis in the area until KOS-MOS steps out onto the roof of the Elsa and uses X-BUSTER to destroy all of them.

Xenosaga I & II

In the DS version of Episode I, the Dock Colony and the Pleroma dungeon are both skipped. As such, the Cathedral Ship is encountered not long after Shion, Allen, KOS-MOS, and Cherenkov are saved from the Woglinde's wreckage.
