Bozé Lowes (ボゼ・ロウズ), also addressed as Sensei, is a recruitable character in Xenoblade Chronicles X. He is a Harrier who runs Team Balmung, and acts as a sensei to other BLADEs in order to help them survive on Mira. His personal goal is to attain satori while on the planet.
Bozé is recruitable after the mission The Mad Monk is started.
Appearance and personality[edit]
Bozé is a bald, scarred Zen Buddhist man with a tattoo of a soul on his head and also has brown eyes. His default outfit is the Sakuraba Heavy Suit. He is greatly interested in East Asian culture, despite not being from there himself. Despite his interest in Japanese culture, he has little tolerance for xenoform cultures like those of the Ma-non or the Prone.
While he often preaches that his students remain calm in most situations, Bozé can often be fierce and strict with his students, Reggie and Clarissa. He often yells "Katsu!" in order to discipline his students, and will sometimes punch them as well. Despite this, he cares for his students like they are his family, since he's promised to keep them alive.
Character Bio[edit]
A veteran soldier with a service record dating back to Coalition army days. He went on to become a military-academy instructor, and trained many active BLADEs. Bozé is also deeply interested in certain facets of eastern Earth culture.
Battle Style[edit]
Bozé uses a standard Partisan Eagle style for both ranged and melee encounters, regardless of enemy numbers.

Xenoblade Chronicles X[edit]
The Mad Monk[edit]
Bozé introduces himself to Cross and asks them to call him Sensei. Bozé reveals their mission is to track down a team of BLADEs that went missing. While searching, they find an injured Ma-non called Jejebba. Jejebba asks for help, but Bozé refuses as humans are his priority, and he considers xenoforms to be "degenerate beasts". If Cross insists they help Jejebba, Bozé will reluctantly assist them. Jejebba is grateful and promises to pay them back.
Bozé and Cross find one of the missing BLADEs, Reggie, who explains that indigens ate the rest of his team. Bozé scolds him for panicking and running away. After they defeat the indigens, Bozé shouts at Reggie and attempts to encourage him, and Reggie is inspired. If Jejebba was helped, he will give Bozé a transmitter to fix spatial distortions. Bozé says he has no need for it, but Jejebba makes him take it.
After the mission, Bozé will take Cross as a pupil, whether Cross wants it or not.
Bozé's Way[edit]
Bozé is approached by Reggie, who is panicking about Clarissa's team, as they were attacked. Bozé shouts and scolds Reggie for panicking again. Reggie reveals that no one is available for a search party, so Bozé asks Cross to go with him.
The group finds Clarissa's team's abandoned Skells. They conclude her team must have been attacked by the Ganglion and taken into the Ganglion base. They find Clarissa being held by three Prone. The Prone commander says he will release Clarissa if Bozé can make it to him, but Clarissa warns that he killed all her teammates and she doesn't believe he'll keep his word.
The group fights their way to Clarissa, but the Prone commander kills her in front of them. After killing the Prone, Bozé grieves over Clarissa and regrets his inability to keep his promise to his students as the xenoforms have killed all but Reggie. Bozé takes Clarissa's dog tags and returns home.
Bozé's Ignorance[edit]
Bozé receives a mission from Eleonora to take down a powerful indigen which bested Reggie and many other BLADEs. On their way to the indigen's location, they encounter a Tree Clan Prone woman, who asks them for help rescuing her family. Bozé initially refuses and expresses anger at the Prone species for Clarissa's death, but eventually agrees to help.
If Bozé was given Jejebba's transmitter, it begins flashing, and the "Prone" is revealed as a Definian, Stalio, who curses the Ma-non signal-jamming technology. After she is defeated, Bozé realizes that Jejebba saved their lives.
If Bozé does not have Jejebba's transmitter, he follows the disguised Stalio into an ambush with several other Definians. After they are defeated, Bozé says that all xenoforms are rotten.
Bozé's team find the Trigger Scintimure from their mission and defeat it, and return to Eleanora. Bozé will either reaffirm his hatred of xenoforms or express conflicted feelings, depending on how the mission went. If Jejebba helped them, Reggie will arrive and reveal that Jejebba was concerned when he saw that the transmitter activated. Bozé says that he has found enlightenment thanks to Jejebba's kindness and considers bringing him a Buddha statue as thanks.
Chapter 12[edit]
During the confrontation with the Ganglion at the Lifehold Core, Bozé leads Team Balmung in the approach and the defense of the Core.
In the ending scene, Bozé is seen on a BLADE mission with Doug.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition[edit]
Bozé is part of the raiding party led by Elma into the center of Volitaris.
Lore[edit]
- Bozé's hatred for other xenoforms came when many of his students were killed when Earth was destroyed.
- On Earth, Bozé used to travel and collect Buddha statues and bonsai trees.
- According to the Collectopedia, Bozé was the one that named the Meditation Powder found in Primordia.
