Black Shards are a key item in Future Redeemed. They are used to make Ether Slides.

In-universe, Black Shards are used to amplify the ether sources in order to project the wires of Ether Slides.

Black Shards can be found in the overworld:

Directly west of the Ulcar Monument in The Ragmos Desolation, right next to a nearby Fog Rift.
In the Zalmor's Thawtunnels, down a short passageway to the east right after one enters the Sealed Cave.
Between the two bridges in the Declessa Cave Temple Ruins, accessible via jumping down from the south.
At the westernmost point in the river running through Zalmor's Thawtunnels.
On Oracle Spire, around the back from the exit/entrance to the Ether Lift from Tephra Cavern, Reshaped.
Atop a tent on an eastern outpost of the Gelgemos Garrison.
On the eastern tip of the path east of Raguel Bridge - North.
By a broken pillar in the northeast of the Belgazas' Drifts.
By a Nagul Pod on the switchback north of the Town of Banerro Ruins.
In the open in the southwest corner of the Corridor of Silence, on the western mezzanine.
