Ayako Saso is a Japanese composer of video game music. She, along with Shinji Hosoe, is a member of the group SuperSweep.

Biography[edit]

Saso was born on the 5th of March, 1967, in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. She studied many instruments from a young age: by high school, she played the piano, electronic organ, euphonium, and keyboard. Via these instruments, she was introduced to a variety of musical styles, such as classical, Latin American, jazz, fusion, and (particularly) computer-generated music. She attended the SHOBI College of Music, and joined Namco after graduating, where she met Shinji Hosoe. She continued to work at Namco until 1996, at which point she joined Arika for four years before starting SuperSweep with Hosoe.[1]

Relevance to the Xeno series[edit]

Saso composed for Xenosaga Episode II and Xenosaga Freaks; however, her individual contributions are uncredited and therefore largely unknown. Curiously, she was not credited at all in the Episode II credits, although Yuki Kajiura and Shinji Hosoe were.
