Appendage fragment

Appendage Fragments are parts of Global Nemeses in the original version of Xenoblade Chronicles X. These items are gathered from destroyed appendages and are meant to be gathered for analysis, which will complete when the Global Nemesis is successfully defeated. Otherwise, they can be exchanged for Reward Tickets.

In the Definitive Edition, Appendage Fragments do not exist; rather, Global Nemesis appendages may drop their associated materials directly.

Overview

Appendage fragments spawn when one of the Global Nemeses, Telethia Plume or Yggralith Zero, has its appendages destroyed. These appendage fragments are always rewarded after the appendage is destroyed, even if the mission is abandoned early.

Appendage fragments can be exchanged for a rather large number of Reward Tickets at the Network Console, under "Global Nemesis Battle Spoils".

After the Global Nemesis is defeated, a random appendage fragment will be found to have rare constituents, converting that fragment into a rare Material: Telethia Emeralds from Telethia Plume or Yggralith Gold from Yggralith Zero. All other fragments are converted to Reward Tickets at a much lower rate of one ticket per fragment.

If the Global Nemesis flees because the timer has run out, all appendage fragments are converted into Reward Tickets at the low rate of one ticket per fragment.

Unused content

The image files for the two types of appendage fragments are called "brok_04" and "brok_05", implying at least three others were considered but cut. Images exist called "brok_0001" and "brok_0002", but they only contain the text "部位の欠片１" and "部位の欠片２", which is literally "part fragment 1/2".
