An Obstacle in Our Path (Definitive Edition ver.) is Track 5 on the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Sound Selection, and Disc 1, Track 16 on the Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition Original Soundtrack and the Xenoblade Chronicles Original Soundtrack Trinity Box.
It is a rerecording of the original with altered balance, mixing, and orchestration. The entire piece is also played a semitone above the original. Unlike the original's ending fadeout, this version has a clear ending (only heard on the soundtracks).
It mostly plays in the same situations as the original, with the exception of the cutscene where the Mechonis starts to move. In addition, it also plays in the boss fight against the Orluga Rufus in the High Entia Tomb (for which Time to Fight! played in the original); the music continues from the cutscene prior, possibly indicating that the fight was originally intended to use this music.
