Amidst Fog is a region in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. This area is reached at the start of Chapter 6, when Noah has an out-of-body experience after the events at the Agnus Castle Region. All Noah can do is approach the various light sources and see visions of the past.
Story[edit]
At the Agnus Castle Region, Noah sees his own body, executed by N. Then, he is transported to this region.
Within the fog, there exists Noah and a cloaked figure with Noah's voice. Here, Noah can see moments of his past lives where he and Mio fought together. The cloaked figure asks if Noah wants to try and stop Moebius again, or stay in the "endless now".
Noah can walk through the fog, seeing appearances of Mio's face. Whenever he walks towards the light, he sees his past lives: how they lived, and how they died. Each time, Mio dies before Noah. One past life had a child who had to see his parents pass when their ten-year lifespans ended.
Finally, Noah sees the moment he, from the past, chose to accept Z's endless now and become N. N enters the theater screen and chooses to reunite with Mio, now M.
The cloaked figure asks why Noah exists now, split from his other self. He responds that he knew a mentor named Crys who had sacrificed himself before the end of his tenth term, leaving his flute behind. Noah wondered why Crys, Joran, and Mio had smiled before they died. Noah states that he's found a reason: they were satisfied. The future was left with someone they trusted. But Noah decides that they shouldn't have had to choose that smile. He decides that the world as it is should be ripped apart, and vows to change it. Ultimately, the cloaked figure becomes Mio, and asks for Noah to join her. At this point, Noah comes back to reality.
