A Prayer for the Joy Man Desires (called Prayers -The Joy of Hope- on the Revival disc, sometimes unofficially referred to as Pray for the People's Joy) is Disc 2, Track 14 on the Xenogears Original Soundtrack and track 40 on the Xenogears Original Soundtrack Revival Disc -the first and the last-. It is one of the tracks playable in the Nortune jukebox, under the option 'Requiem'. Our Wounded Bodies Shall Advance Towards the Light is a version of this track by a choir instead of an organ (and, by extension, We, the Wounded Shall Advance into the Light (Revival Version), CREID, and We, the Wounded Shall Advance into the Light (20th Anniversary) are vocal versions of this track).
It plays as the area music in the Battling Champ's room and Kaiser Sigmund's room in Nortune. It also plays in the following cutscenes:
- Sigmund is updated about the situation near the Kislev-Aveh border. (In this scene, Sigmund plays the music in-universe on his organ, and it stops when he stops playing.)
- Fei is brought to Rico's room for the 'baptism ceremony'.
- Fei, Citan and Hammer are introduced to the Battling Champ's room, and plan their next steps.
- Rico's subordinates beg Fei to save Rico from being executed.
- The Gazel Ministry tell Fei about Mahanon and their goals.
